Endometritis - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Los antibióticos se utilizan para tratar y prevenir complicaciones de la endometritis. Si le han recetado antibióticos después de un procedimiento ginecológico, es muy importante terminar todo el medicamento y asistir a los controles realizados por su médico.

Posiblemente sea necesario hospitalizarlo si usted tiene un caso complicado de endometritis, como aquellos que involucran síntomas serios, o que ocurren después del parto.

Otros tratamientos pueden involucrar:

Líquidos a través de una vena (por vía IV)
Reposo

Los compañeros sexuales también pueden necesitar tratamiento si la afección es causada por una infección de transmisión sexual.

Pronóstico:

La mayoría de los casos de endometritis se resuelven con antibióticos. La endometritis sin tratamiento puede llevar a una infección más seria y complicaciones con los órganos pélvicos, la reproducción y la salud general.

Posibles complicaciones:

Infertilidad
Peritonitis pélvica (infección pélvica generalizada)
Formación de absceso pélvico o uterino
Septicemia
Shock séptico

Cuándo contactar a un profesional médico:

Solicite una cita con el médico si tiene síntomas de endometritis.

Llame de inmediato si presenta síntomas y recientemente tuvo un bebé, un aborto espontáneo o provocado, la colocación de un DIU o alguna cirugía que involucrara el útero.
