Disfunción placentaria

Definición:

Es una complicación del embarazo en la cual las estructuras que ayudan a traer el oxígeno y los nutrientes al feto se desarrollan de manera anormal, afectando su crecimiento.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La placenta es la estructura que trae oxígeno y nutrientes al feto, y ayuda a eliminar el dióxido de carbono y otros desechos.

Ciertas afecciones en la madre, como la presión arterial alta, pueden contribuir a los problemas con la placenta. En algunos casos, la membrana placentaria se puede romper o filtrar, permitiendo que la sangre fetal se mezcle con la sangre de la madre, lo cual puede estar asociado con problemas tales como incompatibilidad Rh, nefropatía y diabetes.

La insuficiencia placentaria también se presenta si la placenta no se implanta correctamente sobre la superficie del útero y puede ser causada por múltiples embarazos.
