Cervicitis - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Los antibióticos se utilizan para tratar infecciones bacterianas, como clamidia, gonorrea y otras. Se pueden usar fármacos, llamados antivirales, para tratar las infecciones por herpes.

La hormonoterapia (con estrógeno o progesterona) se puede emplear en mujeres que hayan llegado a la menopausia (posmenopáusicas).

Cuando estos tratamiento no hayan funcionado o cuando la cervicitis haya estado presente por mucho tiempo, el tratamiento puede abarcar:

Criocirugía (congelación)
Electrocauterización
Terapia con láser

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Por lo general, la cervicitis simple sana con el tratamiento si se encuentra la causa y si hay tratamiento para esa causa.

Complicaciones:

La cervicitis puede durar de meses a años y puede llevar a que se presente dolor durante las relaciones sexuales ( dispareunia).
