Cervicitis

Tratamiento:

Las causas infecciosas se tratan con medicamentos prescriptos (antibióticos o antimicóticos) que pueden tomarse por vía oral o ser aplicados en la vagina (crema o loción).

Se puede recomendar la terapia hormonal, especialmente en mujeres posmenopáusicas. La criocirugía , la electrocauterización y la terapia con láser son otras opciones terapéuticas que se pueden tomar en cuenta si otros tratamientos no funcionan.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Por lo general, la cervicitis simple sana con el tratamiento si se identifica adecuadamente la causa y el tratamiento está disponible para esa causa específica.

Complicaciones:

La cervicitis crónica (prolongada) se puede desarrollar y persistir por meses o años. La cervicitis puede ser factor causante de la dispareunia (dolor durante las relaciones sexuales).

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe solicitar una cita médica si se presentan síntomas de cervicitis.
