Quistes ováricos funcionales; Quistes ováricos fisiológicos

Tratamiento:

Los quistes ováricos funcionales generalmente no necesitan tratamiento. Las píldoras anticonceptivas (anticonceptivos orales) pueden ayudar a establecer ciclos normales y disminuir el desarrollo de este tipo de quistes.

Los quistes ováricos simples de más de 5 a 10 cm y los quistes ováricos complejos que no desaparecen se deben extirpar con cirugía ( laparoscopia o laparotomía exploratoria).

El médico puede recomendar otros tratamientos si un trastorno, como la poliquistosis ovárica, está causando los quistes ováricos.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los quistes ováricos funcionales generalmente desaparecen al cabo de 8 a 12 semanas sin tratamiento. Algunos quistes ováricos que no son funcionales tienen que ser tratados para que desaparezcan.

Complicaciones:

Las complicaciones tienen que ver con la afección que está causando los quistes y pueden ocurrir con quistes que:

  • Sangran
  • Se rompen
  • Muestran signos de cambios que pudieran ser cancerosos
  • Presentan torsión

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

La persona debe consultar con el médico si tiene síntomas de un quiste ovárico.
