La retrodesviación uterina casi nunca causa síntomas.
En raras ocasiones, puede ocasionar malestar o dolor.
Un examen pélvico revela la posición del útero. Sin embargo, un útero ladeado en algunas ocasiones se puede confundir con una masa pélvica o con un fibroide en desarrollo. Se puede utilizar un examen rectovaginal para diferenciar entre una masa y un útero retrodesviado.
Si es necesario, se puede emplear una ecografía para determinar la posición exacta del útero.
