Aborto electivo o terapéutico

Es la terminación deliberada de un embarazo.

Los abortos electivos son los que se inician por decisión personal. Aproximadamente el 20% de todos los embarazos (excluyendo los abortos espontáneos) terminan en un aborto electivo. Se ha informado que desde que el aborto fue legalizado en 1973 hasta el 2002, se han practicado más de 42 millones de abortos legales.
