Los síntomas del embarazo abarcan:
La adolescente puede o no admitir que ha tenido relaciones sexuales. Si la adolescente está embarazada, generalmente se presentan cambios de peso (con más frecuencia es un aumento, pero puede haber también pérdida, si las náuseas y vómitos son considerables). El examen físico puede mostrar aumento en el perímetro abdominal y el médico puede sentir el fondo uterino (parte superior del útero agrandado).
El examen pélvico puede revelar la coloración azulada o violácea de las paredes vaginales, una coloración igual y ablandamiento del cuello uterino, al igual que ablandamiento y agrandamiento del útero.
