Trastorno de oposición desafiante - Overview

Definición:

Es un patrón de comportamiento desobediente, hostil y desafiante hacia figuras de autoridad.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Este trastorno es más frecuente en los niños que en las niñas. Algunos estudios han demostrado que afecta al 20% de los niños en edad escolar; sin embargo, la mayoría de los expertos cree que esta cifra es alta debido a las definiciones culturales cambiantes de lo que es un comportamiento infantil normal y a posibles sesgos o prejuicios raciales, culturales y de género.

Este trastorno se inicia generalmente hacia los 8 años de edad, pero puede empezar incluso en los años del preescolar. Se piensa que el trastorno es causado por una combinación de factores biológicos y psicosociales.
