Del 3 al 10% de los niños en edad escolar están afectados, hasta cierto punto, por este trastorno. Los niños con trastornos de la expresión escrita tienen problemas al deletrear, cometen errores frecuentes de puntuación y gramática, y tienen una escritura deficiente.
