Paperas - Treatment

Parotiditis epidémica

Tratamiento:

No hay tratamiento específico para las paperas. La aplicación de compresas frías o calientes en el área del cuello y el uso de paracetamol (Tylenol) pueden ayudar a aliviar el dolor. No le dé ácido acetilsalicílico (aspirin ) a los niños con una enfermedad viral debido al riesgo del síndrome de Reye.

Los síntomas también se pueden aliviar con:

  • Líquidos adicionales
  • Alimentos blandos
  • Gárgaras con agua tibia con sal

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los pacientes generalmente se recuperan, incluso si hay otros órganos comprometidos. Después de la enfermedad, el paciente tiene inmunidad de por vida contra las paperas.

Complicaciones:

Se puede presentar infección de otros órganos, incluyendo la orquitis.

Llame al médico si usted o su hijo presentan paperas y:

Acuda al servicio de urgencias o llame al número local de emergencias (como el 911 en los Estados Unidos) si se presentan convulsiones.
