Angiofibroma juvenil

Tratamiento:

Se requiere tratamiento si el angiofibroma está creciendo, obstruyendo las vías respiratorias o causando hemorragias nasales repetitivas. En algunos casos, no se necesita tratamiento.

La cirugía puede ser necesaria para extirpar el tumor, lo cual a menudo es difícil debido a que dicho tumor no está encerrado y puede haberse diseminado profundamente a otras áreas.

Se puede utilizar un procedimiento, llamado embolización, para evitar que el tumor sangre. Este procedimiento puede corregir las hemorragias nasales por sí solo o puede estar seguido de una cirugía para extirpar el tumor.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Aunque los angiofibromas no son cancerosos, pueden seguir creciendo y algunos pueden desaparecer por sí solos.

Es común que el tumor reaparezca después de la cirugía.

Complicaciones:

Diseminación del tumor a la nariz, los senos paranasales y otras estructuras
Anemia
Presión cerebral (poco común)

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe consultar con el médico si se presentan hemorragias nasales frecuentes o repetitivas.
