Es la manifestación de síntomas de hipervitaminosis D que se presenta varios meses después de la administración de dosis excesivas de vitamina D .

El exceso de vitamina D causa concentraciones de calcio en la sangre anormalmente altas que pueden a la larga ocasionar daño severo en los huesos, los tejidos blandos y los riñones. Esta afección casi siempre está asociada con formas de la vitamina D que requieren prescripción médica.
