Si usted tiene ganglios linfáticos inflamados y un arañazo o mordedura de gato (o ha estado en contacto con este animal), el médico puede sospechar de la enfermedad del arañazo de gato. Un examen físico puede revelar un agrandamiento del bazo (esplenomegalia).
La enfermedad a menudo pasa inadvertida debido a la dificultad para las pruebas. Sin embargo, la prueba indirecta de anticuerpos fluorescentes (IFA) para Bartonella henselae es altamente precisa para la identificación de la infección causada por esta bacteria.
