Oftalmoplejía supranuclear

Definición:

Es la incapacidad de mover voluntariamente los ojos en todas las direcciones.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Este trastorno ocurre debido a que el cerebro está enviando y recibiendo información errónea a través de los nervios que controlan el movimiento ocular, aunque los nervios en sí estén sanos.

Los pacientes con este problema pueden presentar parálisis supranuclear progresiva , un trastorno que afecta la manera como el cerebro controla el movimiento. En otros casos, una lesión cerebral (como un accidente cerebrovascular ) puede ocasionar varios tipos de oftalmoplejía supranuclear.
