Dacrioadenitis - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Si la causa de la dacrioadenitis es una afección viral, como las paperas, todo lo que posiblemente se necesite es descanso y la aplicación de compresas tibias. Para otras causas, el tratamiento es específico para la enfermedad causal.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La mayoría de los pacientes se recuperan completamente de la dacrioadenitis. En caso de enfermedades con causas más serias, como sarcoidosis, el pronóstico es el de la afección subyacente.

Complicaciones:

La inflamación puede ser muy importante y ejercer presión sobre el ojo y distorsionar la visión. Es posible que algunos pacientes que inicialmente se cree están afectados por una dacrioadenitis resulten tener un tumor maligno de la glándula lacrimal.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Consulte con el médico si la inflamación o el dolor aumentan a pesar del tratamiento.
