Se refiere a qué tanto se abre la trompa de Eustaquio, la cual pasa entre el oÃdo medio y la garganta. Ésta controla la presión detrás del tÃmpano y del espacio del oÃdo medio, y ayuda a conservar el oÃdo medio libre de lÃquido.
La trompa de Eustaquio normalmente está abierta o permeable. Sin embargo, las infecciones auditivas o los cambios de altitud pueden incrementar la presión en el oÃdo, provocando que dicha trompa resulte bloqueada.
