Tratamiento:

La cirugía rara vez es necesaria, pero en caso de necesitarse, se debe posponer hasta que el niño tenga aproximadamente 9 meses de edad. Ocasionalmente, los problemas de alimentación requieren que la cirugía se lleve a cabo más temprano.

La cirugía implica cortar el tejido que está anormalmente ubicado. Si el niño tiene un caso leve de anquiloglosia, la cirugía se puede realizar en el consultorio médico. Los casos más graves se atienden en el quirófano de un hospital. Es posible que se requiera un procedimiento de reconstrucción quirúrgica, llamado cierre con plastia en Z, para prevenir la formación de tejido cicatricial.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La cirugía, si se realiza, es generalmente exitosa.

Complicaciones:

Las complicaciones son raras, aunque se puede presentar recurrencia de la anquiloglosia, inflamación de la lengua, sangrado, infección y daño a los conductos de las glándulas salivales.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Si la persona está preocupada de que su hijo pueda tener anquiloglosia, debe pedirle al médico que lo examine durante un control del niño sano rutinario.
