Atresia coanal - Symptom

Síntomas:

Los recién nacidos generalmente prefieren respirar a través de la nariz. Normalmente, sólo respiran por la boca cuando lloran. Los bebés con atresia coanal tienen dificultad para respirar a menos que estén llorando.

La atresia coanal puede afectar a uno o ambos lados de la vía aérea nasal. La atresia coanal que bloquea ambos lados de la nariz (bilateral) ocasiona problemas respiratorios agudos con cianosis e insuficiencia respiratoria. Los bebés con atresia coanal bilateral pueden necesitar reanimación en el momento del parto. Más de la mitad de los bebés presenta un bloqueo únicamente en un lado, lo cual ocasiona problemas menos graves.

Los síntomas abarcan:

  • Retracción en el pecho a menos que el bebé esté llorando o respirando por la boca
  • Dificultad respiratoria después del nacimiento, que puede causar cianosis (coloración azulosa), a menos que el bebé esté llorando
  • Incapacidad para alimentarse y respirar al mismo tiempo
  • Imposibilidad de pasar un catéter a través de cada lado de la nariz dentro de la garganta
  • Obstrucción o secreción nasal persistente en un solo lado

Pruebas y exámenes:

Un examen físico puede mostrar una obstrucción nasal.
