Atresia coanal
Tratamiento:
La preocupación más inmediata es la reanimación del bebé, si es necesario y es posible que se requiera colocar un tubo endotraqueal para que el bebé pueda respirar. En algunos casos, puede ser necesario practicar una intubación o una traqueotomÃa.
Un bebé puede aprender a respirar por la boca, lo que permite retrasar la necesidad de una cirugÃa inmediata.
La cirugÃa para eliminar la obstrucción cura el problema y puede posponerse si el bebé puede tolerar la respiración por la boca. Los procedimientos quirúrgicos posibles se llevan a cabo a través de la nariz (transnasal) y a través de la boca (transpalatal).
Expectativas (pronóstico):
Se puede esperar una recuperación total.
Complicaciones:
Las posibles complicaciones abarcan:
- Aspiración mientras el bebé se alimenta y trata de respirar a través de la boca
- Paro respiratorio (el bebé deja de respirar completamente)
- Estrechamiento de nuevo del área después de la cirugÃa
Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:
La atresia coanal, especialmente si afecta a ambos lados de la nariz, se diagnostica generalmente al poco tiempo del nacimiento mientras el bebé está todavÃa en el hospital. La atresia de un solo lado puede no causar sin sÃntomas y el bebé puede ser enviado a casa sin un diagnóstico. Si el bebé presenta cualquiera de los problemas aquà señalados, se debe consultar con el médico.
