Rinitis vasomotora - All Information

Definición:

Es una afección no alérgica que implica secreción nasal, estornudos y congestión nasal constantes.

Causas:

La rinitis vasomotora no es causada por una infección o alergia. La causa exacta se desconoce. Los síntomas son desencadenados por algo que irrita la nariz, como una atmósfera seca, contaminación del aire, alimentos picantes, alcohol, emociones fuertes o ciertos medicamentos.

Síntomas:

  • Goteo nasal
  • Congestión nasal (nariz tapada)
  • Sibilancias
  • Secreción nasal acuosa (rinorrea)

Pruebas y exámenes:

El médico le preguntará por sus síntomas, cuándo ocurren y qué parece desencadenarlos.

A usted también le preguntarán por su casa y el ambiente de trabajo. El médico puede observar dentro de la nariz y ver que los tejidos que la recubren están hinchados debido a los vasos sanguíneos inflamados.

Se pueden realizar pruebas cutáneas para alergias con el fin de descartar este problema como una causa de los síntomas.

Se pueden igualmente ordenar exámenes de sangre para determinar los niveles sanguíneos totales de IgE (anticuerpo alérgico) y el conteo total de eosinófilos circulantes (un tipo de glóbulo blanco).

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento primario es simplemente evitar las cosas que desencadenan sus síntomas.

En algunos casos, los descongestionantes o un aerosol nasal que contiene un antihistamínico pueden ayudar. Los aerosoles nasales con corticoesteroides pueden servir para algunas formas de rinitis vasomotora.
