Rubéola congénita
Tratamiento:
No hay un tratamiento especÃfico para la rubéola congénita. Entre los cuidados se debe incluir un tratamiento apropiado de los sistemas afectados consultando con los médicos.
Expectativas (pronóstico):
El pronóstico para los niños con rubéola congénita depende de la gravedad de las anomalÃas presentes. Los defectos cardÃacos a menudo se pueden corregir, pero el daño al sistema nervioso es permanente.

Las complicaciones pueden involucrar muchas partes del cuerpo:
Ojos:
Corazón:
- Conducto arterioso persistente ( PDA )
- Estenosis de la arteria pulmonar
- Otros defectos cardÃacos
Sistema nervioso central:
- Retardo mental
- Retardo motor
- Cabeza pequeña debido desarrollo insuficiente del cerebro (microcefalia)
- Encefalitis
- Meningitis
Otras:
- Sordera
- Bajo conteo plaquetario
- Agrandamiento del hÃgado y del bazo
- Tono muscular anormal
- Enfermedad ósea

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:
Se debe buscar asistencia médica si existe una preocupación acerca de la rubéola congénita, si la persona no está segura del estado de sus vacunas o si una madre o su hijo necesita la vacuna.
