Síntomas:

El síntoma principal es la falta de interés sexual.

Signos y exámenes:

La mayor parte del tiempo, una evaluación médica y los exámenes de laboratorio no revelarán una causa física.

Sin embargo, la testosterona es la hormona que origina el deseo sexual tanto en los hombres como en las mujeres. Los niveles de testosterona se pueden verificar, especialmente en aquellos hombres que presentan deseo sexual inhibido. La sangre para estos exámenes debe obtenerse antes de las 10:00 a.m., cuando los niveles de hormonas masculinas se encuentran en su punto más alto.

Una vez que se hayan descartado causas físicas, las entrevistas con un especialista en terapia sexual pueden servir para revelar las posibles causas.
