Información:

La persona debe recibir instrucciones específicas del odontólogo o higienista sobre la forma de cepillarse y usar la seda dental correctamente. Pero, en general, las recomendaciones para prevenir y eliminar la placa y el sarro de los dientes abarcan:

  • Cepillarse por lo menos dos veces al día con un cepillo que no sea demasiado grande para la boca y que tenga cerdas suaves y redondeadas. El cepillo debe permitir llegar a todas las superficies de la boca con facilidad y la pasta dental debe contener fluoruro.
  • Se debe utilizar seda dental suavemente al menos dos veces al día, lo cual es importante para prevenir enfermedades de las encías.
  • Acudir al odontólogo o higienista oral cada 6 meses para hacerse una limpieza completa de los dientes y un examen oral.

Los selladores dentales son un medio para proteger los dientes de caries, dado que sellan las cavidades, fisuras y surcos sanos en los dientes. Igualmente, se recomienda el consumo de comidas bien balanceadas para mantener los dientes y encías sanos.
