Son glándulas de forma triangular ubicadas en la parte superior de los riñones. Estas glándulas producen hormonas como el estrógeno, la progesterona, los esteroides, el cortisol, la cortisona y químicos como adrenalina ( epinefrina ) y norepinefrina .
Cuando las glándulas producen una cantidad de hormonas mayor o menor a la requerida por el cuerpo, la persona puede resultar enferma.
