Es el movimiento o diseminación de las células cancerosas de un órgano o tejido a otro, por lo general a través del torrente sanguíneo o del sistema linfático .

Ya sea que las células cancerosas hagan metástasis o no a otras partes del cuerpo depende de muchos factores como:

Tipo de cáncer
Etapa en la que se encuentra el cáncer

El tratamiento de las metátasis depende del tipo de cáncer y dónde ha hecho metástasis (o hacia dónde se ha propagado).
