Prótesis

Definición:

Es un dispositivo diseñado para reemplazar una parte faltante del cuerpo o para mejorar el funcionamiento de una parte del mismo. Las prótesis suelen usarse para reemplazar ojos, brazos, manos y piernas faltantes o enfermas. Los dientes postizos son denominados prótesis dentarias y al reemplazo del hueso de la mandíbula por un hueso artificial se lo conoce como prótesis maxilofacial. Los implantes de pene también son conocidos como prótesis peniles.
