Definición:

Significa más cercano al centro (tronco del cuerpo) o al punto de unión al cuerpo. Si se da otro punto de referencia, como por ejemplo el corazón, el punto proximal de otro órgano o extremidad es el punto más cercano de ese órgano o extremidad al corazón (central en lugar de periférico).
