Definición:

Es un feto o bebé que es más pequeño en tamaño de lo normal para su sexo y edad gestacional.

Información:

La ecografía se utiliza para averiguar si un feto es más pequeño de lo normal para su edad (restricción en el crecimiento intrauterino). La definición que se usa más ampliamente de pequeño para su edad gestacional (SGA, por sus siglas en inglés) es el peso al nacer por debajo del percentil 10.

Un feto con restricción en el crecimiento intrauterino será pequeño en tamaño y puede tener problemas como:
