Criocirugía

Definición:

Es un método de congelación de tejido con el fin de destruirlo. Esta técnica se utiliza para tratar tumores, al igual que controlar el dolor y el sangrado.

El frío se introduce a través de una sonda que tiene nitrógeno líquido circulando en su interior. Para destruir un tejido enfermo, éste se enfría por debajo de - 20° Celsius. En otros procedimientos utilizados para controlar el dolor o el sangrado, el enfriamiento se da en un grado menor para prevenir daño a los tejidos.
