Es el proceso de calentar tejidos con electricidad. El procedimiento se utiliza con frecuencia para detener hemorragias.

Información:

La electrocauterización (o electrocauterio) es un procedimiento seguro que se utiliza de manera rutinaria en intervenciones quirúrgicas para extirpar tejidos lesionados o indeseados. Igualmente, se puede utilizar para cauterizar y sellar vasos sanguíneos, lo cual ayuda a reducir o detener sangrados o hemorragias masivas.

Se utiliza una pequeña sonda con corriente eléctrica pasando a través de ella con el fin de cauterizar o destruir el tejido. Se coloca una almohadilla haciendo masa en el cuerpo de la persona (usualmente el muslo) antes de la cirugía para proteger al paciente.
