Definición:

Los huesos planos, como por ejemplo el cráneo y las costillas, están compuestos de una capa de hueso esponjoso entre dos capas delgadas de hueso compacto. Su forma es aplanada, no redondeada. Estos huesos tienen médula, pero no una cavidad de médula ósea.
