Vitamina B12

Definición:

Es una vitamina hidrosoluble. Las vitaminas hidrosolubles se disuelven en agua y el cuerpo no las puede almacenar. Después de que el cuerpo utiliza estas vitaminas, las cantidades sobrantes salen del cuerpo a través de la orina.

Típicamente, las vitaminas hidrosolubles no pueden ser almacenadas por el cuerpo, pero la vitamina B12 es especial, porque el cuerpo la puede almacenar por años en el hígado. Debido a esto, una deficiencia de vitamina B12 es muy rara.
