Dieta y yodo
La sal yodada -sal de cocina con yodo agregado- es la principal fuente alimenticia de yodo. El yodo se encuentra en forma natural en los mariscos, e igualmente el bacalao, el róbalo, el abadejo y la perca son buenas fuentes. El alga parda o marina (kelp ) es el más común de los vegetales alimenticios de mar y se caracteriza por ser una fuente rica de yodo. Además, los productos lácteos y las plantas que crecen en suelos ricos en yodo son excelentes fuentes de este nutriente.
