Efectos secundarios:

La cafeína puede llevar a:

  • Frecuencia cardíaca rápida
  • Ansiedad
  • Depresión
  • Dificultad para dormir
  • Náuseas
  • Inquietud
  • Temblores
  • Micción más frecuente
  • Vómitos

Dejar la cafeína en forma abrupta puede causar síntomas de abstinencia tales como:

  • Somnolencia
  • Dolores de cabeza
  • Irritabilidad
  • Náuseas
  • Vómitos

Reduzca la cafeína gradualmente para prevenir cualquier síntoma a causa de la abstinencia.

El efecto de la cafeína en la salud se ha estudiado ampliamente.

  • Las grandes cantidades de cafeína pueden disminuir la densidad de la masa ósea, muy probablemente al interferir con la capacidad del cuerpo para absorber el calcio, lo cual puede llevar a osteoporosis.
  • La cafeína puede causar o empeorar las mamas que presentan protuberancias y dolor (enfermedad fibroquística de las mamas).

La cafeína puede tener un efecto negativo en la nutrición de un niño si las bebidas cafeinadas reemplazan a las bebidas saludables, como le leche. Un niño que consume cafeína también puede comer menos, debido a que ésta reduce el apetito.
