Definición:

La hidromorfona es un medicamento de venta con receta utilizado para aliviar el dolor fuerte. La sobredosis de hidromorfona ocurre cuando alguien toma accidental o intencionalmente más de la cantidad normal o recomendada de este medicamento.

Elemento tóxico:

La hidromorfona, un tipo de morfina, es un narcótico opiáceo, lo que significa que es una droga extremadamente potente que puede causar un sueño muy profundo.

Los pacientes a quienes se les receta hidromorfona para el dolor no deben consumir alcohol, dado que esta combinación incrementa las posibilidades de efectos secundarios peligrosos y síntomas de sobredosis.
