Definición:

El salicilato de metilo es un químico con olor a gaulteria que se encuentra en muchos productos de venta libre, incluyendo cremas para los dolores musculares. La sobredosis de salicilato de metilo ocurre cuando alguien accidental o intencionalmente toma más cantidad de la normal o recomendada de un producto que contenga esta sustancia.
