Definición:

La heroína es una droga ilegal que es muy adictiva y en este artículo se aborda la sobredosis a causa de ella. Una sobredosis se presenta cuando una persona toma más de la cantidad normal o recomendada de algo y puede ocasionar síntomas graves y dañinos o la muerte.

Esto es sólo para fines de información y no para usarse en el tratamiento ni en el manejo de una exposición tóxica real. La heroína se elabora a partir de la morfina, una potente droga que se obtiene en forma natural de las vainas de las plantas de amapola (opio) o adormidera asiática. Los nombres en inglés con los que se conoce en las calles abarcan "junk", "smack" y "skag".
