Riesgos:
Los riesgos de cualquier cirugía son:
- Sangrado.
- Daño a otros órganos (aparatos digestivo o urinario), lo cual requiere cirugía adicional para su reparación.
- Infección.

Los riesgos de la ligadura de trompas son:
- Cierre incompleto de las trompas, lo cual podría aún hacer posible que se presente un embarazo. Aproximadamente 1 de cada 200 mujeres que ha tenido ligadura de trompas queda en embarazo posteriormente.
- Aumento del riesgo de embarazo tubárico (ectópico) si dicho embarazo ocurre después de una ligadura de trompas.
- Lesión a órganos o tejidos adyacentes causada por instrumentos quirúrgicos.
