Expectativas después de la cirugía:

La cirugía generalmente es efectiva. El médico debe repetir una citología vaginal o biopsia en una visita de control para constatar que la operación destruyó efectivamente el tejido anormal.

Convalecencia:

La persona puede reanudar casi todas las actividades normales inmediatamente después de la cirugía y es posible que necesite evitar las relaciones sexuales, al igual que las duchas vaginales, durante varias semanas. Por 2 a 3 semanas después de la cirugía, habrá mucho flujo acuoso ocasionado por la muda (desprendimiento) del tejido cervical muerto.

La persona podría sentirse mareada inmediatamente después del procedimiento. Si esto sucede, se debe acostar en la mesa de exploración para no desmayarse. Esta sensación debe desaparecer en unos pocos minutos.
