Piloroplastia

Definición:

Es la cirugía para ensanchar la abertura que está al final del píloro, que se encuentra en la porción inferior del estómago, de tal manera que los contenidos estomacales puedan ser vaciados al duodeno (intestino delgado).

Descripción:

La cirugía se realiza bajo anestesia general, con el paciente inconsciente y sin sentir dolor. El cirujano hace una incisión alrededor del ombligo o en la parte superior derecha del vientre. Si la cirugía se lleva a cabo de manera laparoscópica, se utilizan tres incisiones pequeñas. Se repara el extremo del píloro, de tal manera que los músculos en el área se puedan relajar y el estómago pueda vaciar sus contenidos.

Indicaciones:

La piloroplastia es el único tratamiento efectivo para aliviar la estenosis pilórica y también se puede utilizar para tratar ciertos pacientes con úlceras pépticas u otros tipos de enfermedad gástrica.
