Los riesgos de esta cirugía son:

  • Distensión por gases, lo cual causa dificultad para eructar o vomitar y lleva a una sensación de llenura después de las comidas. Estos síntomas mejoran lentamente para la mayoría de las personas.
  • Dolor y dificultad al tragar para algunas personas, lo cual se denomina disfagia. En la mayoría de las personas, esto desaparece en los primeros tres meses después de la cirugía.
  • Daño al estómago, al esófago, al hígado o al intestino delgado, pero es poco frecuente.
