Expectativas después de la cirugía:

La colostomía drena la materia fecal (heces) del colon hacia la bolsa de colostomía. La mayor parte de las heces que salen por colostomía son más suaves y líquidas que las heces evacuadas normalmente. Qué tan líquidas sean las heces dependerá de la localización del segmento del intestino empleado para formar la colostomía.

Convalecencia:

La recuperación de este tipo de cirugía se relaciona sobre todo con la afección o procedimiento por los cuales se realizó la colostomía. A la mayoría de los pacientes se les pone en una dieta especial dentro del período de 48 horas después de la cirugía.

La persona necesita aprender cómo cuidar el dispositivo o bolsa de colostomía y de ostomía.
