Como sucede con cualquier cirugía, la cirugía láser no está exenta de riesgos, entre los cuales están: tratamiento incompleto del problema, dolor, infección, sangrado, cicatrización y cambios en el color de la piel.

Algunas cirugías láser se llevan a cabo bajo anestesia general, por lo que se deben discutir los riesgos de ésta con el anestesiólogo.
