Convalecencia:

La permanencia en el hospital varía de acuerdo con la cirugía realizada en la columna. Algunas personas sólo permanecen de un día para otro, mientras que otras deben quedarse por mucho más tiempo.

Se motiva al paciente para que camine durante el primer o segundo día después de la cirugía con el fin de disminuir el riesgo de coágulos sanguíneos (trombosis venosa profunda).

La recuperación completa se demora aproximadamente 5 semanas y se recomienda no realizar trabajo pesado hasta varios meses después de la cirugía o definitivamente.
