Después del procedimiento:

Las orejas se cubren con un apósito grueso después de la cirugía. Cualquier sensibilidad o molestia se puede controlar fácilmente con medicamentos. Si la cirugía se realiza en un hospital, el niño debe irse para la casa el mismo día o al día siguiente.

Los vendajes para el oído se retiran después de dos a cuatro días, pero el niño necesitará usar una faja liviana para la cabeza por dos a tres semanas para favorecer la cicatrización. La decisión de cuándo retornar al colegio y las actividades normales depende de qué tan rápido sane el niño.

Pronóstico:

Las cicatrices son muy leves y están localizadas en los pliegues detrás de las orejas.

El niño podría necesitar una segunda operación si la oreja ocasionalmente sobresale de nuevo.
