Expectativas después de la cirugía:

La reparación de la criptorquidia es efectiva en la mayoría de los casos y sólo un pequeño porcentaje de las personas tendrá problemas de fertilidad. (Ver: infertilidad)

Los hombres que hayan padecido criptorquidia deben hacerse autoexámenes mensualmente, a lo largo de sus vidas, en busca de posibles tumores. Las personas con criptorquidia tienen tasas de cáncer testicular mayores que aquéllas con desarrollo testicular normal, aún cuando tengan un testículo que haya descendido completamente en el otro lado.

Convalecencia:

La cirugía se puede realizar en calidad de procedimiento ambulatorio. Se recomienda reposo en cama durante los 2 ó 3 primeros días. Evite la actividad vigorosa, incluyendo montar en bicicleta, al menos durante 1 mes para permitir que el testículo sane en su nueva posición.
