MastoidectomÃa
Definición:
Es una cirugÃa para extirpar las celdillas en los espacios huecos y llenos de aire que se encuentran en el cráneo por detrás del oÃdo, las cuales se denominan celdillas mastoideas.
Descripción:
La cirugÃa solÃa ser una forma común de tratar una infección en las celdillas mastoideas. Dicha infección generalmente provenÃa de una infección auditiva que se diseminaba al hueso circundante en el cráneo.
En la actualidad, casi nunca es necesario realizar este tipo de cirugÃa, dado que las infecciones se tratan comúnmente con antibióticos.
Sin embargo, esta cirugÃa se puede utilizar para tratar otros problemas, como colesteatoma o complicaciones de otitis media , o para colocar un implante coclear .
