Ardor en el ojo, prurito y secreción

Definición:

Esta afección se caracteriza por ardor, prurito o secreción de los ojos de cualquier sustancia que no sea lágrimas.

Consideraciones generales:

Algunas veces, el ardor y el prurito en los ojos se deben a los contaminantes ambientales que podrían ser eliminados por algún tipo de acción social. Si el humo de tabaco es molesto, dicha molestia se debe manifestar y, en caso de que una planta industrial esté contaminando, se recomienda comunicarse con la Agencia de Protección Ambiental (EPA, por sus siglas en inglés) en los Estados Unidos para lograr soluciones.

Causas comunes:

Alergias , incluyendo alergias estacionales o fiebre de heno
Conjuntivitis o conjuntivitis aguda ( infección viral de la superficie ocular)
Irritantes en el aire (humo de cigarrillo o smog)
Irritantes químicos (como el cloro en una piscina o el maquillaje)
Infecciones bacterianas
