Definición:

Es cualquier tipo de material de apariencia mucosa que sale de la nariz.

Consideraciones:

La rinorrea es común, pero rara vez es grave. El drenaje de los senos paranasales inflamados o infectados puede ser espeso o decolorado.

El exceso de moco puede bajar por la parte posterior de la garganta (goteo retronasal) u ocasionar una tos que generalmente empeora en la noche. La irritación en la garganta también puede resultar del excesivo drenaje de moco.

El drenaje de moco puede obstruir la trompa de Eustaquio entre la nariz y el oído, causando dolor e infección del oído. El goteo de moco también puede obstruir los conductos sinusales, causando dolor e infección sinusal.

Infecciones bacterianas
Resfriados
Gripe
Rinitis alérgica
Traumatismo craneal
Aerosoles nasales
Sinusitis
Objetos pequeños en la fosa nasal (en especial en los niños)
