Dolor de diente o de dientes

Definición:

Un dolor de muelas es el dolor en o alrededor de un diente.

Consideraciones generales:

Un dolor de diente o dolor de muela suele ser el resultado de caries dentales o algunas veces de una infección. La caries dentales a menudo son causadas por una higiene dental deficiente, aunque la tendencia a padecerlas es en parte hereditaria.

Algunas veces, el dolor que se siente en el diente en realidad se debe a un dolor en otras partes del cuerpo. Esto se denomina dolor referido o irradiado. Por ejemplo, un dolor de oído algunas veces puede causar dolor de muela.
